Gifts for gamers

Last updated: · Links and ratings checked 16 October 2026

Buying for a gamer is easier than it looks. You don’t have to know which games they play. The safest gifts are the kit every gamer wears out or runs short of.

Kit that always gets used

A spare controller means they can play with friends or family. The PS5 DualSense has over 53,000 ratings, and the Xbox Wireless Controller also works with PCs and phones. A headset is next: the Razer BlackShark V2 X for under £50, or the wireless Turtle Beach Stealth 600 for more. PC gamers will like the Logitech G305 wireless mouse.

Storage

Games are huge now. A Samsung T7 portable SSD adds space for consoles and PCs.

Games themselves

Only buy a specific game if you know their console. Switch 2 owners: Donkey Kong Bananza and Pokémon Pokopia are both rated 4.8 on Amazon UK.

Frequently asked questions

What do you buy a gamer who has everything?

A second controller in a new colour, a better headset, or more storage. Gamers wear out and outgrow all three.

How do I know which console they have?

Ask, or check what controllers are by the TV. PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo accessories aren’t interchangeable.

Will it arrive before Christmas?

Check each retailer’s cut-off and our UK Christmas delivery dates page. For Christmas 2026, Royal Mail’s last recommended 1st Class posting date is Monday 21 December. Personalised items need extra time.
